If You Believe, I Am Ganga Maa: Dr Y Rakhi on Astrology and Destiny

Mumbai — Renowned astrologer Dr Y Rakhi brought a blend of spiritual wisdom and practical advice to former journalist Nidhi Vasandani’s podcast, discussing everything from tarot readings and planetary effects to the power of manifestation and daily happiness. Her conversation offered listeners thoughtful perspectives on how belief, karma, and personal effort shape human lives.

When asked about the predictive power of tarot cards, Dr Rakhi responded with a memorable analogy. “If you believe, then I am Ganga Maa. If you do not believe, then it is just flowing water,” she said. She further explained, “Tarot cards can predict the future, not 100 percent but 1000 percent. The 78 tarot cards can reveal the secrets of the future. More important than the cards is the belief of the person, their questions, and their energy.”

On the age-old question of destiny versus free will, Rakhi drew a sharp distinction. “Our destiny is not decided at birth. Our birth is decided. Destiny is created by us,” she asserted. She cited examples of ordinary people rising to extraordinary heights through determination, asking, “How does a watchman become a film star? How does someone selling vada pav reach Bigg Boss?”

Dr Rakhi elaborated on planetary influences with clarity. “Mars always creates battles and challenges. Mercury brings intelligence and speech. Jupiter takes you to the feet of your Guru. Venus connects you with your spouse. Saturn gives you the comfort of employees and workers, and if not, it can even take you to jail,” she explained.

She identified the Guru Chandal Dosh — the combination of Jupiter and Rahu — as particularly challenging, especially for women, potentially causing delays in marriage, issues related to children, and emotional difficulties. Yet she cautioned against over-reliance on planetary positions alone. “I have seen horoscopes with excellent yogas, yet the person is working as a plumber... Because karma is important,” she noted.

Sharing real-life observations, Rakhi highlighted cases where individuals with challenging charts thrived through devotion and positive actions, such as women reciting Sundarkand daily despite astrological hurdles.

On manifestation, she expressed strong belief in aligning with positive energy. “If I see someone progressing, I do not become jealous. I think, wonderful. One day I can reach that level too,” she said, explaining how connecting with positivity helps attract better outcomes.

Dr Rakhi also debunked certain superstitions, noting that directions like south are not inherently unlucky and pointing to successes in South India and southern parts of Delhi. In a light-hearted rapid-fire segment, she called lizards, black cats (as forms of Lakshmi), and owls auspicious.

Her advice for happiness was simple yet profound: “By making others happy. Put a smile on someone’s face. Say something kind to a broken person.” She recommended starting each day with gratitude: “Wake up in the morning, thank the earth, and say, today is the best day of my life... I love myself.”

Dr Y Rakhi’s appearance on the podcast offers a balanced view of astrology — neither fatalistic nor dismissive — but one that empowers individuals through belief, effort, and conscious living. Her insights remind listeners that while celestial influences exist, personal karma and mindset ultimately shape destiny.
