Dream Tennis Cricket League Season 1 Launched in Kurukshetra
Dream Tennis Cricket League Season 1 officially launched in Kurukshetra with Aakash Chopra as chief guest. The North Zone tournament will feature 12 teams from Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh from June 16 to 21.
Kurukshetra, Haryana: The historic city of Kurukshetra came alive with sporting spirit as the Dream Tennis Cricket League (Season 1 – North Zone) was officially launched in a grand ceremony on Monday. The event, held in Umri, Kurukshetra, gained added prestige with the presence of renowned cricket commentator and former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra as the chief guest.
The launch ceremony witnessed enthusiastic participation from budding cricketers, sports enthusiasts, and local dignitaries. Organizers unveiled the official poster and team jerseys, setting the stage for what promises to be one of the most exciting tennis cricket tournaments in the North Zone.
The league is scheduled to take place from June 16 to June 21 in Samana Bahu, Kurukshetra. It will feature talented players from Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh. A total of 12 teams, each comprising 11 players including one player above the age of 35, will compete in the tournament.
Chairman Somnath Gaba, founder Ravi Kumar Gaba, Vinay Kamboj, and several dignitaries from Haripur (Yamunanagar) and surrounding areas graced the occasion. The league is officially recognized by the Tennis Cricket Sports Federation and is being organized with the support of the Tennis Cricket Sports Association Haryana. Event operations are being managed by Ultimate Event Makers LLP.
Addressing the gathering, Aakash Chopra shared valuable insights from his cricketing journey and encouraged young players. “If a player has talent, he deserves a platform to showcase it,” he said. He highlighted the growing popularity of tennis cricket and praised initiatives like the Dream Tennis Cricket League for providing opportunities to hidden talent, especially from rural and small-town backgrounds.
Chopra further stressed the importance of dedication, discipline, and true sportsmanship, urging youngsters to stay focused on their goals. He interacted warmly with players and fans, making the event memorable for aspiring cricketers.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairman Somnath Gaba expressed confidence that the league would emerge as a prominent platform for tennis cricket in the region. Founder Ravi Kumar Gaba added that the primary objective is to nurture sporting enthusiasm among the youth and give talented players a stage to shine. He also announced that selection trials will begin on April 15 in Rajasthan.
During the ceremony, Aakash Chopra honoured several passionate cricketers — Rohit Chandigarhya, Ashu from Yamunanagar, Aman Manjhi, Danny Mandi, and Prince Kamboj — by presenting them with mementos in recognition of their contribution to the sport.
