Jaipur: Actress and producer Huma Qureshi is set to challenge conventional storytelling in Hindi cinema with her upcoming action-thriller Baby Do Die Do. Featuring a deaf and mute woman as a professional contract killer, the film introduces a character unlike anything audiences have previously witnessed on the big screen.
The project has generated considerable buzz since its announcement, with its teaser and first-look campaign drawing attention from both movie enthusiasts and industry observers. During a promotional event in Jaipur, Huma spoke about her experience of balancing creative responsibilities as both the lead actor and producer of the film.
Reflecting on the project, Huma explained that she continuously evaluated the story from two perspectives. As a producer, she wanted to ensure the film offered something genuinely fresh, while as an actor, she focused on portraying a believable and emotionally authentic character.
According to her, the objective was never to simply present a familiar narrative through a female protagonist. Instead, the team sought to create a character who feels real, complex, and deeply human. She revealed that throughout production, both her producer and performer instincts remained actively engaged, often leading to revisions and reshoots whenever a scene failed to meet expectations.
At the heart of the film is Baby Karmarkar, a fearless and unconventional hitwoman operating within the dangerous underworld of Mumbai. Huma described Baby as unpredictable, flawed, courageous, and impossible to ignore. The story unfolds against the backdrop of a city where danger is constant, loyalties shift rapidly, and survival is never guaranteed.
While Baby Do Die Do is rooted in the crime-thriller genre, the actress emphasized that the film also incorporates action, suspense, and dark humor. This combination creates a unique cinematic experience that aims to keep viewers engaged from beginning to end.
One of the most compelling aspects of Baby’s character is the contrast between her vulnerability and strength. Despite being unable to hear or speak, she possesses extraordinary survival instincts and lethal skills that make her one of the most formidable figures in the story. Huma noted that this balance between humanity and danger is what makes the role particularly memorable.
The film also introduces a distinctive visual element through Baby’s signature red umbrella. Initially appearing to be an ordinary accessory, the umbrella eventually reveals a hidden secret—it conceals a firearm within its structure. This symbolic weapon becomes both her identifying trademark and one of the film’s most intriguing narrative devices.
Huma credited director Nachiket Samant for meticulously building the world of the film and creating a gripping atmosphere that complements the story’s unconventional protagonist. She also described collaborating with her brother, actor-producer Saqib Saleem, as one of the most rewarding aspects of the production journey.
Produced by Saleem Siblings and Pune 04, the film features an ensemble cast including Sikandar Kher, Chunky Panday, Rachit Singh, Marudha Shekawat, Vidya Malavade, Arun Kushwah, and Himanshu Malik in significant roles.
As part of the promotional campaign, Huma unveiled a massive cutout of Baby Do Die Do at Jaipur’s World Trade Park. The event attracted a large gathering of media representatives, fans, and cinema enthusiasts, further amplifying excitement ahead of the film’s theatrical release on July 3, 2026.
With its unique protagonist, unconventional narrative, and blend of suspense, action, and dark humor, Baby Do Die Do aims to offer audiences a fresh perspective within the Hindi thriller genre and establish Baby Karmarkar as one of Bollywood’s most distinctive female characters.
