Actor Parichay Sharma has never followed a conventional path in the entertainment industry. From his early days in reality television to critically diverse roles in films and web series, his career reflects a willingness to embrace varied opportunities. Currently seen in the show Vasudha, Sharma recently reflected on his journey, including a significant 9-year break from television and the personal growth that accompanied it.

His television journey began with Splitsvilla, followed by his first major scripted project, Aur Pyar Ho Gaya on Zee TV in 2013. "Then I did my first project with Zee TV in 2013, titled Aur Pyar Ho Gaya," he recalled. Subsequent roles included Sada Haq on Channel V, a prominent youth-oriented show, and a stint in the iconic Balika Vadhu, which he described as a significant part of Indian television history, lasting about a year.

Further opportunities came in 2016 with Begusarai, where he shared the screen with Shweta Tiwari playing his mother. That same period saw him in Khwabo Ki Zameen Pe on Zee Zindagi, where he portrayed a negative lead. "After that, I did Begusarai with Shweta Tiwari; she played my mother. So that was in 2016. And then there was Zee Zindagi. I did a show called Khwabo Ki Zameen Pe. I played a negative lead in that. It was 2016-17," he shared.

From 2017 onwards, Sharma stepped away from the daily television format. "From 2017 to 2020, it was a very lean period. My movie didn't release." In 2021, his film D Company released, in which he portrayed the complex character of Dawood Ibrahim. "That was a totally different chapter of life," he noted.

The break period allowed him to explore different mediums. He appeared in the MX Player web series Dhanam in 2022 as the lead, followed by Johri, and later Swaraj, where he essayed the iconic freedom fighter Bhagat Singh. "I played Bhagat Singh in that. It was also a very dear character to me. I was totally keen to do this character like Bhagat Singh. Another aspiration is to play Shivaji someday," he said with evident passion.

After nearly a decade, Parichay made his return to television. "17, I took an exit. From 17 to 26 is like 9 years. After 9 years, I came back. Things have changed now. A lot of things have changed," he observed.

The time away from the medium that launched him brought substantial personal evolution. "It's not the same boy who exited TV. These 9-10 years have taught me a lot. In real life, I'm a very simple person. I'm like a plain-hearted guy. And I've always been like this. But now, a little mature," Parichay added.

His journey illustrates the changing dynamics of an actor’s career in the Indian entertainment industry. From reality shows and popular daily soaps to intense film roles and web series, Sharma has continuously reinvented himself. The break, far from being idle, allowed him space to take on challenging characters and gain life experiences that now inform his performances with greater depth and maturity.

Returning to television after such a significant gap comes with fresh perspectives. Sharma’s story resonates with many artists who step back to grow personally and professionally before re-entering the spotlight. As he continues in Vasudha, audiences are witnessing not just an actor but someone who has used his time away to become more grounded and intentional in his craft.

Parichay Sharma’s candid reflections offer insight into the realities of sustaining a career in showbiz — the importance of taking risks, embracing breaks, and allowing life experiences to shape one’s artistry. His aspiration to portray historical figures like Shivaji further hints at an actor eager to explore meaningful and impactful roles in the years ahead.
