Neha Rana Appeals for Collective Action as Mumbai Faces Water Shortage
Mumbai: Television actress Neha Rana, currently winning hearts with her lead role in Mahadev & SonS, has expressed deep concern over Mumbai’s escalating water crisis and urged residents to adopt responsible water conservation practices before the situation worsens.
Reacting to reports suggesting that Mumbai’s water reserves may last only around 40 days due to delayed monsoon rains and critically low lake levels, the actress described the situation as an urgent warning for citizens across the city.
Speaking on the issue, Neha emphasized that water scarcity is no longer a distant environmental concern but an immediate challenge affecting millions of people. She noted that despite Mumbai’s stature as one of India’s most developed cities, its survival remains closely tied to natural resources.
According to Neha, easy access to water often causes people to underestimate its value. She highlighted the stark contrast between residents who experience temporary inconveniences due to water cuts and those in underserved communities who regularly spend hours collecting water from public sources.
“Access to clean, running water is something many of us take for granted. However, for countless families, every drop matters. This crisis serves as a reminder that water is a precious resource and should never be treated as unlimited,” she said.
The actress further stressed that meaningful conservation does not require drastic lifestyle changes. Instead, she encouraged citizens to adopt simple daily habits that can collectively create a significant impact.
She suggested practical measures such as turning off taps while brushing teeth, repairing leaking fixtures promptly, and reusing household water wherever possible. According to her, if millions of residents embrace these small actions, the city can substantially reduce unnecessary water wastage.

She explained that a considerable amount of water is lost every day through leaking taps, pipelines, and faulty flush systems. Addressing these issues, she said, could help save substantial quantities of water with minimal effort and investment.

“Mumbai has always been known for its ability to overcome challenges. Today, the challenge before us is water conservation.
