Shahid Kapoor Starts Shooting Farzi Season 2

Shahid Kapoor has officially commenced principal photography on Farzi Season 2, reuniting with acclaimed directors Raj Nidimoru and Krishna Dasarakothapalli (Raj & DK) for the highly anticipated continuation of the hit crime-thriller series. The actor marked the milestone by sharing a candid behind-the-scenes photograph on social media, featuring himself alongside the filmmaker duo, with the caption “Back at it.”

The image shows the trio in casual attire on what appears to be a set location, exuding the same easy camaraderie that defined the making of the first season. Earlier this year, Shahid had teased the project’s revival with a similar post captioned “The fakers are back at it,” while Raj & DK confirmed progress by uploading a symbolic image of stacked currency notes with the line “Round 2 in progress.”

Farzi, which premiered on Amazon Prime Video in February 2023, quickly became one of the platform’s most-watched Indian originals. The eight-episode first season followed Sunny (Shahid Kapoor), a struggling artist turned counterfeit kingpin, as he navigated the perilous intersection of ambition, morality, and organised crime. Vijay Sethupathi delivered a standout performance as the relentless cop Michael Vedanayagam, while the ensemble — including Raashii Khanna, Kay Kay Menon, Bhuvan Arora, Regina Cassandra, and Amol Palekar — earned praise for its sharp chemistry and layered portrayals.

Created, written (alongside Sita Menon and Suman Kumar), produced, and directed by Raj & DK, the series blended taut suspense with dark humour and incisive commentary on forgery, corruption, and the pursuit of the “perfect con.” Its critical and commercial success — bolstered by strong word-of-mouth and repeat viewership — made a second season a natural progression.

Although plot details for Farzi Season 2 remain under wraps, the return of the core cast suggests continuity in Sunny’s high-stakes journey and the ongoing cat-and-mouse game with law enforcement. Production sources indicate that filming is progressing smoothly across multiple schedules, with the team maintaining the same meticulous approach to action choreography, production design, and character depth that defined Season 1.

Beyond Farzi, Shahid Kapoor is gearing up for another major project: Cocktail 2, the sequel to the 2012 romantic drama directed by Homi Adajania and produced by Dinesh Vijan under Maddock Films. In the follow-up, Shahid will share screen space with Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna, stepping into a fresh narrative that builds on the original’s themes of love, friendship, and modern relationships. The announcement has already generated significant buzz, given the enduring popularity of the first film among younger audiences.

Shahid’s dual commitments highlight his strategic shift toward premium OTT content and high-profile theatrical ventures following a string of successful films and series. His collaboration with Raj & DK, known for their distinctive style in The Family Man and Farzi, continues to position him at the forefront of India’s evolving digital entertainment landscape.

As cameras roll on Farzi Season 2, anticipation is building among fans eager to see how Sunny’s story evolves in a world that has grown even more complex since his last con. With Raj & DK at the helm and the original cast intact, the series is poised to maintain its reputation as one of Prime Video’s flagship Indian originals. For now, the simple image of Shahid, Raj, and DK back together signals that the fakers — and the thrill of the chase — are indeed back in action.
