In the world of television dramas, where emotional depth drives storytelling, actress Soma Rathod brings a refreshingly authentic approach to her work. Currently seen as Pushpa in Prateek Sharma and Parth Shah’s Tumm Se Tumm Tak under Studio LSD’s banner, Rathod emphasizes genuine connection — both with her character and with her colleagues — as the cornerstone of impactful performances. Her philosophy stands out for its sincerity and focus on lived experience rather than mere technique.
Rathod believes strong emotional ties on set elevate the entire production. “According to me, it is very important because in every show I have worked on, I connect with it wholeheartedly. I connect deeply with all the actors, with the production team, and with the entire crew,” she shared. This connection goes beyond fellow performers. “I don’t just connect with the artists; I also form genuine bonds with all the technicians. So yes, it is extremely important because that emotional connection is what brings life into anything you do,” Rathod added.
For Rathod, the line between acting and reality often blurs in the best possible way. “As far as I am concerned, I feel that I do not act. Whatever character I play, I live it. And perhaps that is the reason why people feel my performances are so natural, because they genuinely are,” she explained. This immersive method allows emotions to flow organically during filming. “When a scene comes to me, I do not think of it as acting; I truly feel it. Many times, when a scene requires me to cry, I do not even need multiple takes because the emotions come naturally to me,” she noted.
She credits comfortable off-screen relationships for enhancing on-screen chemistry. “Yes, it definitely helps. The more comfortable and free you can be with each other, and the more familiar you become, the better it reflects on screen,” Rathod confirmed. On the sets of Tumm Se Tumm Tak, this manifested through simple shared moments. “In my case, all the artists would often sit together and have lunch in my room. That sense of comfort and bonding naturally translated into better chemistry and performances on screen,” she recalled.
Soma Rathod’s dedication to living her characters and fostering real bonds creates performances that resonate with authenticity. Her approach reminds us that television success often stems from heartfelt connections — both with the story and with the people who bring it to life. As Pushpa, Rathod continues to embody this philosophy, delivering moments that feel lived rather than performed. In an industry where chemistry can make or break a scene, her method offers a powerful example of how genuine emotion and teamwork translate into compelling television.
