Srishti Jain Supports Anti-Dowry Message On TV
Srishti Jain backs anti-dowry message in Ganga Mai Ki Betiyan, promoting dignity, equality, and awareness.
The television show Ganga Mai Ki Betiyan, produced by Dreamiyata Entertainment, is currently drawing attention for its socially impactful narrative that addresses the deeply rooted issue of dowry. Featuring Amandeep Sidhu as Sneha and Sheizaan Khan as Siddhu, the show is using its storyline to highlight the importance of dignity and self-respect in the face of societal pressure.
In the upcoming episode, a pivotal moment unfolds as Ganga Mai, portrayed by Shubhangi Latkar, firmly refuses to comply with dowry demands made by Sahana’s mother-in-law Kaushalya, played by Gunabi Maan. This sequence is expected to deliver a strong message about courage, resilience, and the need to challenge regressive traditions.
Actress Srishti Jain, who essays the role of Sahana, expressed her support for the show’s progressive theme. Interestingly, the storyline resonates closely with her personal life, as she is preparing for her own wedding.
“I am glad that our show is taking a firm stand against dowry and spreading awareness,” Srishti shared. “It sends a powerful message that no bride or her family should feel pressured into accepting such practices. As I prepare to marry the love of my life, I can confidently say that my family and close circle strongly reject the concept of dowry.”
Highlighting the importance of awareness, she emphasized that education plays a crucial role in challenging outdated customs. According to her, being informed allows individuals to question traditions that are unjust and recognize the legal implications associated with them.
“Dowry is not just an outdated custom—it is a punishable offence in our country. That alone should make people rethink its existence,” she added, underlining the need for societal change.
Srishti also spoke candidly about gender equality, particularly in the context of cultural and social constructs. She pointed out that women have historically been portrayed as liabilities, a notion she strongly rejects.
“I have always believed in equality between genders. Over time, women have been unfairly labeled as burdens, which is simply untrue. While there may be physical differences, women are equally capable and often excel in many fields,” she stated.
Expressing her strong personal stance, Srishti added that the very idea of dowry is illogical and regressive. She remarked that capability and worth should never be measured based on gender, and that society must move beyond such discriminatory practices.
With its current storyline, Ganga Mai Ki Betiyan continues to use entertainment as a medium for social awareness, reinforcing the message that dignity and self-worth should never be compromised under any circumstances.
