Tannaz Irani Makes OTT Debut with Expanded Role in Margao Files

After more than three decades in the entertainment industry, Tannaz Irani is embracing new frontiers with her OTT debut in the series Margao Files. The seasoned actress, celebrated for her work across films, television, and reality shows, brings her signature versatility to the platform. Her filmography includes memorable roles in Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai, Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein, Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon, and 36 China Town, while television audiences know her from shows such as Ye Meri Life Hai, Badi Door Se Aaye Hain, Kahaan Hum Kahaan Tum, and the recent Barsatein.

Irani’s entry into Margao Files came about in an organic and somewhat surprising manner. She shared that the director offered her the role directly, bypassing a traditional audition process. “The director offered me the role directly, without an audition. I had initially come in for what was meant to be a two-day part, but things evolved, and I ended up being featured much more prominently in the show,” she explained. What began as a brief commitment blossomed into a fuller presence, reflecting the fluid nature of creative projects.

Beyond her acting pursuits, Irani is recognized for her multifaceted contributions. She is a three-time TEDx speaker, author, director, motivational speaker, and India’s only celebrity NLP transformation coach. This diverse background adds depth to her approach to roles. She expressed excitement about the timing of her OTT debut: “This is my OTT debut, and I’m genuinely thrilled. We shot it back in 2022, and it feels like it has been released at just the right moment.”

Preparation for the character involved thoughtful refinement rather than intensive research. “I didn’t need extensive preparation, but I did rehearse in different ways to strike the right tone, especially with the language. I wanted it to feel natural without being too harsh,” Irani noted. Adjustments were made during production, with stronger dialogues toned down to suit the sensibilities of the WAVES platform.

The series was filmed in the picturesque mid-island regions of Goa, providing a visually compelling setting that enriches the narrative. Irani clarified that although she shares the project with veteran actress Zeenat Aman, the two did not have any scenes together.
