Mumbai: On the occasion of International Women’s Day, director Zaigham Imam released the first official poster of his upcoming film The Narmada Story, sparking widespread curiosity and conversations about women’s strength and resilience in the face of injustice.

Set against the scenic yet challenging backdrop of Madhya Pradesh and the Narmada river belt, the film is a gripping social crime drama inspired by true events from rural India. At its core lies the powerful story of a tribal woman named Agni Dhurve, who is determined to go to any length to protect her daughter. Her fight gains momentum when Police Inspector Narmada Raikwar joins her battle against influential criminals who consider themselves above the law.

Interestingly, the role of the fearless police officer is portrayed by real-life IPS officer and actress Simala Prasad, bringing an authentic edge to the character. The film features an impressive ensemble cast with National Award-winning actress Anjali Patil, Ashwini Kalsekar, and veteran actors Zarina Wahab, Raghubir Yadav, Mukesh Tiwari, Sharad Singh, and Ishtiyak Khan in pivotal roles.

Speaking about the significance of unveiling the poster on Women’s Day, director Zaigham Imam said, “This film is inspired by real incidents from rural India. Releasing its first poster on Women’s Day makes the moment even more special for me. It is a story about a mother’s indomitable courage and the integrity of a woman police officer. When women rise against injustice, change begins.”

Co-producer Piyush Singh echoed the sentiment, describing the film as more than just a crime drama. “The Narmada Story is not just a crime drama but a tribute to women who dare to stand against injustice despite difficult circumstances. With powerful performers like Anjali Patil, Zarina Wahab, and Raghubir Yadav, the story gains even greater impact,” he added.

The film is produced by AB Infossoft Creation in association with Golden Ratio Films as co-producers. According to the makers, The Narmada Story aims to deliver both an engaging cinematic experience and a strong social message rooted in women’s empowerment and the fight for justice.

The poster release has generated significant interest among audiences, with many appreciating the timely theme and the strong female-centric narrative. The story’s focus on a mother’s fierce determination and a courageous woman officer’s integrity resonates deeply in today’s social context, where stories of women breaking barriers continue to inspire.

With its rich ensemble cast and rooted storytelling, The Narmada Story promises to be a thought-provoking addition to Indian cinema. The film is scheduled for a theatrical release this summer, offering viewers a compelling blend of drama, emotion, and real-life courage.

For director Zaigham Imam, the project holds special meaning as it shines a light on the often-overlooked struggles and triumphs of women in rural India. The enthusiastic response to the first poster suggests that audiences are ready for stories that not only entertain but also reflect the indomitable spirit of women who refuse to stay silent in the face of adversity.

As the countdown to the summer release begins, The Narmada Story is already being seen as a significant cinematic tribute to women’s power and their unwavering quest for justice.
