Patience Is the Foundation of Success in Television, Says Adrija Roy
Mumbai: Television actress Adrija Roy, who has won audiences over with her performances and screen presence in the popular show Anupamaa, believes that patience remains one of the most important qualities an actor can possess. While viewers often see the glamour and excitement associated with television, Adrija says the reality behind the scenes is a constant lesson in discipline, resilience, and perseverance.
Speaking about the demands of working in the television industry, Adrija highlighted the fast-paced nature of the medium. Unlike many other entertainment formats, television production often operates under extremely tight schedules, with episodes sometimes being filmed just a day or two before they are aired.
“Television is fast. You might be shooting for an episode that goes on air the next day or shortly after. Every schedule involves tremendous effort from a large team. There are times when multiple things are happening simultaneously, and despite all the pressure, an actor has to remain calm and focused,” she shared.
For Adrija, the biggest lesson television has taught her is patience. She believes it is an essential quality that actors should carry with them every time they step onto a set.
“Patience is the one thing an actor must never forget when leaving for work. Everything else can be arranged or managed, but without patience, things may not go as smoothly as they should,” she said.
According to the actress, patience is not only important for handling daily challenges on set but also for building a sustainable career in the entertainment industry. In an era dominated by social media trends and instant visibility, she feels that many newcomers often underestimate the time and dedication required to achieve long-term success.
Adrija pointed out that fame and success are often confused with one another. While popularity can emerge quickly through viral content, trending moments, or social media discussions, true success requires consistency, hard work, and continuous self-improvement.
“People should understand that popularity and success are two very different things. Popularity can be temporary and may come from a viral scene, social media buzz, or even rumors. Success, however, takes time. It is built through dedication, consistency, and constantly working on your craft,” she explained.
The actress believes that aspiring performers should focus less on instant recognition and more on developing their skills and staying committed to their goals. She emphasizes that meaningful achievements in television are earned through persistence and the willingness to grow with every project.
Reflecting on her own journey, Adrija shared that embracing patience has transformed her approach to both her profession and personal life. The mindset has helped her become more disciplined, focused, and composed in challenging situations.
“It has made me calmer and more focused. I approach my work differently now. If you rush through a scene, you may not do justice to it. But when you give it time and allow yourself to fully understand the moment, you can create something truly memorable,” she said.
As television continues to evolve and competition grows stronger, Adrija Roy’s perspective serves as a valuable reminder that lasting success is rarely achieved overnight. Through patience, dedication, and continuous learning, artists can build careers that stand the test of time and leave a meaningful impact on audiences.
