Produced by Janvi Doshi and Kaushik Thakkar under Shreenathji Mediaworks, the project resonated deeply with Maharshi due to its focus on a pressing yet often overlooked issue — irresponsible waste disposal, particularly of used condoms.
From the moment he encountered the film’s concept, Maharshi recognised its universal relevance. “When I heard the concept, I realized that this problem exists everywhere around us. People irresponsibly throw away not just used condoms but many other forms of waste,” he shared. Rather than approaching the topic with anger or confrontation, he chose to craft an impactful, in-your-face rap track designed to spark awareness and encourage behavioural change. His decision to use rap was deliberate, drawing on the genre’s roots as a voice for important social issues.
The lyrics were carefully developed to address both sides of the conversation. Maharshi aimed to speak directly to those contributing to the problem while also amplifying the frustrations of responsible citizens who want cleaner surroundings. “The idea was to address people making such mistakes and also give voice to those who want to stop irresponsible waste disposal,” he explained. “Rhythm and Poetry—RAP—was the most entertaining and impactful way to communicate that message.” This balanced approach reflects a thoughtful creative process focused on solutions rather than blame.
Working on the track — handling writing, composition, and vocals — proved to be a refreshing experience for the seasoned artist. While not overly challenging given his expertise, the shift to a different genre brought renewed excitement. Maharshi described the song’s style as more of a “reporting-like rap format” that presents real-world observations. “It could have been a diss track, but criticism and disrespect don’t solve problems. Awareness does, and that became the core of the song,” he noted.
His philosophy, “Awareness Can Create Change, Not Criticism,” underpins the entire effort. Maharshi firmly believes in the promotional and connective power of music in Indian cinema. “Songs have always been the best way to promote films. Music is loved by Indians across generations, so I am confident the title track will help audiences connect with Condumb,” he said. Through this track, he hopes to inspire viewers to adopt more responsible habits and encourage others to do the same.
Beyond the creative work, Maharshi spoke warmly about his collaboration with the Condumb team. His long-standing friendship with director Kaushik Thakkar made the process enjoyable and seamless. “Kaushik is emotional, creative and incredibly fun to work with,” he shared. Producer Janvi Doshi received special praise, with Maharshi noting the team’s light-hearted dynamic. “Janvi is the cherry on top of the cake—quite literally, because Kaushik often says, ‘Milke cake banayenge’ while discussing projects.” He described Shreenathji Mediaworks as feeling like home, highlighting the collaborative spirit that led to meaningful work and promising future projects.
