Prachi Singh on TV Evolution and Her Empowering Role in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2
Prachi Singh, essaying Manjuri aka Munni in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2, discusses her character's inspiring journey from maid to IAS officer and how television content has evolved to reflect stronger, self-made women.
Television has undergone significant transformation in both storytelling and character development, observes Prachi Singh, who portrays the resilient Manjuri, fondly known as Munni, in the much-anticipated Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2. The actress, stepping into an iconic series that has long shaped family dynamics and relationship values on Indian television, reflects on how the medium continues to evolve while honoring its roots.
Prachi expresses deep appreciation for the opportunity to be part of such a legendary show. "Of course, it's an honor for me that I got a chance to work on a show like Kyunki. And I got a chance to screen share with such well-known people," she noted. Yet, she has worked thoughtfully to make the role distinctly her own. Her character Munni embarks on a remarkable arc that begins in humble circumstances — as a maid from a poor family who grew up in the household — and evolves into that of a self-made IAS officer and respected daughter-in-law.
Detailing this progression, Prachi explained, "Munni's character has been a complete arc. A Cinderella-like arc. Like, there is a girl from a very poor family. Then a prince comes. Basically, this is how it is shown. But in this story, it was different. Only the prince didn't come. She doesn't get married. She becomes an established girl herself. She does something for herself. She gets a position. And then of course, she gets married." This self-reliant journey, supported by the guidance of Tulsi, highlights themes of personal growth and determination that resonate strongly with contemporary viewers.
The actress believes her character offers valuable lessons for modern audiences. "TV has changed a lot compared to before. But still, if I talk about my character, Munni Manjuri Virani, who I am playing, there is a lot to learn from this. This character basically shows that if you want something and decide something, then you can do anything, no matter what. Your background doesn't matter."
