Chaitali Kohli on Her Father’s Unmatched Love
Actress Chaitali Kohli opens up about her deep bond with her father, his sacrifices aboard a cruise ship, and the values that continue to inspire her on Father's Day.
Actress Chaitali Kohli, known for her role in the film The Crew, holds a deeply personal perspective on Father’s Day. For her, the occasion is more than a celebration — it is a moment to honour the quiet sacrifices, unwavering support, and unconditional love that often remain unspoken. In a heartfelt conversation, Kohli described her father as her mentor, inspiration, and the ultimate family man whose influence continues to shape her life.
One of the lighter moments in her reflection came with a touch of humour and genuine gratitude. “I should have thanked him for being so handsome. Only a handsome father can have a beautiful, genetically blessed daughter. I’m genuinely grateful for his genes and for passing on those good looks to me,” she shared with a laugh. Beyond physical traits, however, it is the deeper values and life lessons she has inherited that define their bond.
Kohli particularly admires her father’s remarkable ability to release negativity. “If someone is rude to us or doesn’t speak to our family, he simply says, ‘It’s okay. That’s just the way they are.’ He never carries anger or resentment. I really hope I can learn that from him because I tend to hold grudges, whereas he believes in living peacefully and moving on,” she noted. This philosophy of forgiveness and peace has left a lasting impression, highlighting the quiet strength many parents embody without seeking recognition.
As a child, Kohli did not fully grasp the extent of her father’s sacrifices. He worked on a Royal Caribbean cruise ship, often staying away from the family for months at a time. “As a child, all I knew was that my father wasn’t around for six months at a time. But when I visited the cruise ship and saw his tiny room and the kind of life he lived, I finally understood his sacrifices. Every comfort I have today has come from years of his hard work and staying away from his family,” she recalled. This realisation as an adult brought profound appreciation for the choices he made to provide a better life.
