Mumbai (Anil Bedag): Actress and Stage 4 cancer survivor Rozlyn Khan has added another remarkable chapter to her journey by representing herself before the Supreme Court of India without any formal legal training. After overcoming one of life's toughest health battles, she has continued to display extraordinary resilience by personally arguing her case in a legal matter that has spanned nearly a decade.
Appearing as a party-in-person before a Bench comprising Justice Vikram Nath and Justice Sandeep Mehta, Rozlyn presented her own arguments despite facing a legal team representing the opposing side. Conducting her submissions in Hindi, she said the use of the language during the proceedings enabled her to understand every aspect of the hearing more effectively.
The matter pertains to alleged professional misconduct and has remained pending within the Bar Council system for almost ten years. Throughout this prolonged legal journey, Rozlyn chose not to give up despite facing significant personal and medical challenges.
Even while undergoing chemotherapy, frequent hospital visits and recovery following her battle with Stage 4 cancer, she continued to appear before the court whenever required, determined to pursue the matter until its conclusion.
During the hearing, Rozlyn requested additional time to continue her submissions. Responding to the request, Justice Vikram Nath observed, "Hearings do not continue here after 4 p.m." Following the completion of arguments from both sides, the Bench reserved its judgment, with the final verdict now awaited.
Reflecting on her journey, Rozlyn said her experiences have taught her the importance of facing every challenge with courage and conviction.
"I live life on my own terms. Whether it was cancer or the courtroom, I faced every battle head-on," she said.
