For actress Shruti Rawat, portraying Manisha in the long-running television drama Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai has become one of the most defining chapters of her career. Having spent nearly 18 years in the entertainment industry, the actress says the recognition and affection she has received through the show have surpassed all expectations and given her career a new dimension.
Speaking about her experience, Shruti shared that while she has worked consistently for years, the response she has received from audiences after joining the popular Rajan Shahi-produced show has been extraordinary. According to her, the appreciation from viewers carries far more value than awards or industry recognition.
“I have been working as an actor for almost two decades, but the love I have received through this show is on a completely different level. The audience’s connection with my character and their constant support mean much more to me than any award. This kind of recognition is something I never imagined,” she said.
Apart from professional success, Shruti also credits the production team for helping her maintain a healthy balance between her personal and professional responsibilities. As a single mother, she often manages multiple commitments simultaneously, and she says the supportive environment on the set has played a significant role in making that possible.
“The production team has always been understanding of my situation. They know that I have responsibilities beyond work and have consistently supported me whenever required. That understanding has allowed me to focus on my work while also taking care of my family. I genuinely feel fortunate to be working in such a positive environment,” she shared.
While the journey has been rewarding, Shruti admits that some storylines have demanded intense emotional investment. One such track involved Kiara’s wedding and the subsequent pregnancy revelation, which required her to remain emotionally connected to the character for an extended period.
“That particular sequence was emotionally exhausting because the scenes carried a lot of intensity. For almost two weeks, I had to stay deeply connected to those emotions. Even after pack-up, I found myself thinking about the scenes because the storyline required complete emotional involvement,” she revealed.
The actress believes that working on a successful family drama for nearly three years has significantly contributed to her growth as a performer. Having previously been associated largely with comedy-based roles, she considers this opportunity a major learning experience.
“I always wanted to explore drama as an actor. Being part of a show of this scale has helped me develop confidence and expand my range as a performer. Working alongside talented actors every day teaches you something new. It genuinely feels like I have stepped into a much bigger league,” she said.
When not filming, Shruti prefers spending her breaks in peaceful surroundings. She revealed that one of her favourite activities on set is sitting outdoors, listening to music, and enjoying moments of quiet reflection.
“I love sitting in the garden area, listening to music, having a cup of coffee, and simply enjoying the calm atmosphere. Those moments help me recharge and stay grounded,” she shared.
The actress also expressed her excitement about Manisha’s styling in the current phase of the show. From elegant sarees to carefully designed accessories, she enjoys seeing the final look come together before stepping in front of the camera.
“Every woman enjoys dressing up, and I am no different. Manisha’s styling after the leap has been beautiful. The costumes, jewellery, and overall look are something I genuinely look forward to every day,” she added.
With her character continuing to resonate with audiences, Shruti Rawat remains grateful for the journey, describing Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai as a project that not only elevated her career but also strengthened her confidence as an artist.
