Mumbai: Digital content creator Apoorv Kansal is making his much-awaited entry into the world of reality television with Society 2, hosted by popular stand-up comedian and reality show veteran Munawar Faruqui. In a candid conversation, Apoorv revealed that the show’s raw intensity and psychological depth were exactly what drew him to accept the challenge for his debut.

“Honestly, the brutality of Society 2 is what attracted me to it,” Apoorv shared. “I didn’t want my first reality show to be easy or comfortable. I wanted something raw, something that would test me mentally and emotionally. As a digital creator, people see a curated version of you but Society 2 strips that away. I took it up because I wanted to see who I really am when survival is the only priority.”

The young creator described the experience as far more intense than he had imagined. Being surrounded by contestants who were already well-versed in reality show dynamics added immediate pressure. “They know how to strategize, how to react, how to survive. I had to learn everything in real time while competing against experienced players,” he said. “It was mentally and physically exhausting. I had to learn everything on the go.”

Apoorv admitted there were moments of doubt, pressure, and even isolation, but those very challenges helped him build resilience. “It truly felt like survival every single day,” he reflected.

When asked how Society 2 differs from other popular reality formats such as Rise and Fall, Bigg Boss, or 50, Apoorv explained that the show operates more like a social survival experiment. “Those shows are competitive and dramatic, but Society 2 is structured like a social survival experiment. It’s more psychological and power-driven,” he noted. “The hierarchy shifts, the punishments, the pressure — everything feels amplified. It’s not just about staying safe from elimination. It’s about enduring harsh conditions, constant mind games, and unpredictable twists.”

He added that entering the show as the only newcomer among seasoned contestants significantly multiplied the intensity of the experience.

Apoorv also spoke highly of host Munawar Faruqui’s sharp approach. “As a host, he brought a very sharp and layered energy to the show. He understands the psychology of reality television deeply, so he knows exactly when to push, when to question, and when to stir things up,” he said. “As a first-time contestant, facing him during interactions or confrontations wasn’t easy. He doesn’t just host — he challenges you mentally. But that made the experience even more powerful because it forced me to be clear, composed, and confident in my stand.”

Despite lacking prior reality show experience, Apoorv believes his background as a digital creator gave him one clear advantage. “Camera confidence definitely helped. I wasn’t intimidated by being watched 24/7,” he revealed. However, he was quick to acknowledge that experience in reality formats matters greatly, and being the sole newcomer pushed him to work harder.

“In fact, being the only newcomer made me work harder to prove myself. And I think that underdog position became my strength,” he said. “Everything I did came from instinct and authenticity, not prior game knowledge.”
